opi cuckoo for this color (swiss)

opi's swiss collection from autumn 2010 was brilliant. after ski teal we drop and yodel me on my cell, it's time for one of my favourite polishes ever, cuckoo for this coulor.

and cuckoo for it i surely am! it is a deep green, with some blue undertones and gorgeous blue shimmer. it is such a deep shade with a certain glow to it.

the formula looks like it would be runny and on a thin side, but it's not, it builds up beautifuly.

fun lacquer glitzy glam (summer 2015)

i am breaking this long hiatus (travels, work, holidays) with a true gem: glitzy glam from f. u. n. lacquer collection for summer 2015.

glitzy glam is simply stunning. a rich teal shade, filled with goldish holographic glitter of various sizes, which i can safely say at this point that it's a signature thing of f. u. n. lacquer. i am totally in love with their polishes.

ysl vert d' orient (summer 2013)

one my favourite polishes is vert d'orient from ysl summer 2013 collection.

i guess i could just write ysl and teal and it would be obvious how much i love this polish. jokes aside, it is gorgeous. the colour itself may not be the most unique in the world, but for some reason it feels like it is.

i love teal cremes, and this one has an amazing formula and brush, so it is perfect. the teal is leaning a bit more to the green than what my photos show. it it is one of those hard-to-capture shades.

picture polish aquatic (collaboration shade)

aquatic was created in 2019 as another edition in picture polish collaboration range.

aquatic was created together with vlogger sepswep. inspiration was "the beauty of cold arctic ocean and its deep and mysterious waters".  it is a dark, deep teal with holo flakes. it is a jelly, which gives it that kind-of-transparent but still opaque look.

i am torn when it comes to jellies. it is a complete disaster in some polishes, but it looks amazing in others. luckily, this one is the latter. it is even better as a jelly, as the holo particles pop out more.

picture polish escapades (collaboration shade)

it's time for  another picture polish collaboration shade, and i chose escapades created with the idea of malene from nail escapades blog.

i knew  that i can't miss this one, because i love having teal on my nails. escapades is a really dark teal, but still far from black.

it is a highly saturated jelly, with amazing holo particles that really fit well with the dark teal. formula is great, it really flows nicely. i highly recommend this polish.

opi ski teal we drop (swiss)

ski teal we drop was originally a part of swiss collection, but it got (rightfully) upgraded to the  permanent collection. opi's description: "there are mountains of color in this grey-green-blue".

i once mentioned that half of my wardrobe is green or olive green. well, another half is almost all teal! the shade of teal in "ski" is on the darker side of the teal hues, it is such a rich, nicelly pigmented creme that i can't get bored with. i think it will always be in my top polishes lists.

a england proserpine (rossetti’s godess)

proserpine is another a england masterpiece from rossetti’s goddess collection. incense burner was the first polish i showed from this collection released in 2015.

my fear that proserpine would be too close to another a england beauty, saint george, was luckily not correct. while they are both rich, deep teals, proserpine is much more blue.

it really is a stunning polish, with amazing holo effect and formula. my type of shade for sure!

dior samba 794 (birds of paradise)

for the summer 2013, dior came up with two sets of polishes in the birds of paradise collection. while i had no interest in getting bahia, the other set called samba consists of colors that i know i'll love even without seeing them in real life. today, it's time for samba 794.

samba 794 is described as "metallic peacock green", but it is more of a teal going on blue. it really is gorgeous and pictures don't do it justice. the shimmer is amazing and gives it a bit of a glow, and the duochrome effect can make it look even goldish.

the bottle is smaller than for the regular dior polish (7 ml). the brush is a bit different too, it has the same width, but it is flat, so this is a plus for those of you who don't like the regularly cut dior brush (i actually love the standard one). it is a bit sheer with one coat, but the second one gives complete coverage. there are some visible brush strokes, but they are subtle. i love this polish and i think it's great for the summer!

chanel mediterranee (mediterranee)

chanel gave us four polishes in their 2015 summer collection, mediterranee. i was circling around lavanda and terrana, but took only mediterranee. i might be regretting taking only one.

these tealish-blue shades are my soft spot. they are hard to photograph, and look different in different lighting, so all of these pictures are both accurate and inaccurate. it is a really pretty muted blue. looks not to flashy, but still amazing on the nails. i really am a fan!

picture polish dragonfly (collaboration shade)

today i am showing dragonfly, that was made in the picture polish collaboration with lucy's stash.

it didn't take more than one look at my nails to start calling this polish one of my favourites. it is a beautiful tealish green, with amazing tiny but dense holo particles. it is truly magical, no matter if you are indoors or outdoors.

formula is great, and it dries smoothly. seriously, get one!

china glaze tounge & chic (autumn nights)

tounge & chic belongs to a 2013 china glaze collections, autumn nights.

when i initially bought tounge & chic, i couldn't get enough of it.  i almost missed out on it, because i thought i'm really overdoing it with these sorts of shades, but it surely is unique. then i kind of forgot about it, but that is about to change.

it's such a rich shade, dark, cool teal with metallic shimmer, definitely a stunner, since it never got unnoticed when i had it on my nails. for me, the only problem is that it is slightly thick, one of those almost one-coaters, and because of that (and the fact that i generally don't like cg's narrow brush), i could never really apply it perfectly, but that's a small price to pay for gorgeousness!

china glaze passion in the pacific (fiji fling)

what a blast from the past! i am showing today the evergreen that is passion in the pacific from china glaze's fiji fling collection, back from 2006 (gasp!)

passion in the pacific is one of those polishes that you can never capture just right. and it looks different when you look at it from another angle or lighting. it is teal? is it green or aquamarine? is it neon or shimmer or frost? who knows! bottom line is, it is summer!

since it is an ancient polish, the formula is runny and it needs three coats to be fully opaque, but still brush strokey. i forgive it all, because i just love this weirdo.

essie go overboard (core)

i can't believe it's been 7 years since essie's go overboard was released. it wasn't a part of any specific collection, but was immediately added to the core, and it's obvious why.

go overboard is an awesome creamy teal. it's tagline was "limitless sea blue". the teal shade leans more towards deep blue than green, but the green is obvious as well.

i have a feeling that it darkened as it aged, but can't prove it. nevertheless, formula is smooth and awesome and i wore this polish a lot.

franken polish: pattern by shine eye

i felt like showing off another one of my franken polishes, and this one is named pattern (you can hear the song that inspired it, from the last shadow puppets album "everything you've come to expect").

pattern actually shows that the majority of the polishes i used up are all sorts of greens and blues. it is a teal-leaning green, with some flaky type of silver shimmer.

if i saw this polish in a store, i would definitely get it. it really is my type of shade. i named it after of of my favourite songs from the last shadow puppets' last album.

catrice mermayday mayday (iconails 13)

it's been a while since i picked up a bottle of catrice nail polish. they were my go-to drugstore brand, until they ruined their brush and i stopped even looking at their counter. i got mermaiday mayday from their iconails collection as a gift.

if the polishes of the iconails collection are of the similar quality as this one, than catrice definitely goes back to my good graces. mermaiday mayday is a nice shade of muted teal, but one of those impossible to capture perfectly, as its appearance also changes with the light and weather and so on.

formula is smooth and selfleveling, and quite shiny. if i wasn't so used to my fast drying top coat, it could've been easily skipped.

i am showing quite a few photos, because it really changes with the lighting.

picture polish free (special edition)

today i am showing you a special edition picture polish, free, that is so far my favourite polish of 2017.

if you live in australia, you get this polish for free (hence the name) with your purchase. luckily, us non-australians can still buy it regularly. and this polish is truly divine! it has a duochrome effect, shifting from teal to blue, with awesome holo shimmer.

the formula is awesome, it simply flows. i couldn't stop looking at my nails, so i am posting a bit more photos than usual, because it is truly a chameleon. i took pictures under direct sunlight, slight overcast and in shade, and it is stunning in every condition.

essie naughtly nautical (summer 2013)

another title of this post, where i'm showing essie naughty nautical from their summer 2013 collection, could be "if you have this option, run and buy this polish as fast as you can"!

i'm not really mad about essie. i don't know what really puts me off this brand, but i never look into new collections and drool over them. luckily, i saw swatches of this one, and i immediately fell in love.

essie describes it as "shimmering, brilliant blue-green nail polish". it bears resemblance to my other love, essence mojito green, only this one's slightly bluer and the silver glass-flecked shimmer is larger. it's somewhere between being blue and teal, which makes it hard to capture, and i think you ought to imagine it just slightly greener than the in the images. the shimmer is amazing, always visible but not in your face.

the formula is amazing, the polish basically applies itself. i can see myself wearing this one quite often, so, if you have the chance, i advise you not to pass on it, since i think it goes well with various skintones.

a england saint george (the legend)

the first a england polish i ever saw was dragon, and i thought it was the prettiest polish i've ever seen. when i started looking at the swatches of the other a england polishes, i was blown away! when  i decided to finally get my hands on those, of course that  the gorgeous saint george from the legend collection was the first pick and it is, without a doubt, my favorite polish ever.

the legend collection, top row: order of the garter, dragon, bridal veil, ascalon; bottom row: princess tears, princess sabra, saint george.

a england's description of saint george is so poetic:"bearer of a valiant & courageous heart, this fathomless teal reveals the strength of the brave knight's convictions with his gleaming, fiery core."

i don't even know if words can explain the perfection that is saint george. the color is my favorite deep teal green with scattered holographic effect, with blue, green and gold sparkles. even in shade, the polish looks gorgeous. formula is beyond amazing, it is a one coater (i went with two for the purpose of  taking photos) and self-leveling. i read that fellow bloggers praise a england's formula, so i see that i'll be getting more!

dior nirvana (rock your nails)

back in the days, when i didn't plan to buy high end polishes, i knew that dior nirvana is the one i would've bought if i did. and this dior collection, rock your nails from spring 2011, is so amazing, just look at the picture below! too bad they are hard to find nowadays. the polishes in the second pictures are blue label - nirvana - perfecto - purple mix - undeground.

the color is a gorgeous, gorgeous teal (for some reason, dior calles it "deep turquoise") and i am simply in love with it! the formula is dreamy, this is one of the rare situations i have only one coat of polish. i was on my way to apply the second one, took a look at my nails and realized i don't actually need it.
