picture polish peacock (opulence shades)

the polish of the day is peacock from picture polish opulence collection, because i simply couldn't resist a polish with such a name!

the base color is dark purple jelly, filled with emerald green mostly hexagonal glitter. because of the base colour, it looks like the glitter is actually multicoloured. i will eventually layer it over some purple creme, to see what colour pops out. to me, it looks like an emerald version of china glaze skyscraper.

when it comes to formula and the opacity, it's one of those polishes that, after the first coat, you think it could never get opaque, but with the second thicker one, everything looks good. bottom line, i like it and i don't regret getting it.

picture polish camo (light shades)

camo is one of rare picture polish cremes that i own, and it was initially launched as a part of light shades collection in 2009, like tiffany and sky.

the initial decription was "a khaki best worn as camouflage", to which they added "dark and earthy, camo nail polish has a creme formula that goes on smoothly for opaque coverage."

khaki is one of my favourite shades, so there was no skipping this one. it is earthy and muted in just the perfect amount. the coverage was also great, it is really one of my go-tos.

china glaze four leaf clover (up and away)

it's been a while since i had china glaze on the blog, so i am going with four leaf clover from an ancient up and away collection from 2010, the same one as grape pop (rip).

four leaf clover is a definite must have for green lovers. it is one of the hardest shades to capture: it either turns out like  a forest green (which it is not quite accurate) or more teal than it should. nevertheless, it is a vibrant, awesome medium green.

formula is decent even after all these years. there is one strange thing though: it changes the shade a bit after you put the top coat on. the only one i ever experienced this with. i am adding old photos without a top coat, so you can clearly see the difference.

opi cuckoo for this color (swiss)

opi's swiss collection from autumn 2010 was brilliant. after ski teal we drop and yodel me on my cell, it's time for one of my favourite polishes ever, cuckoo for this coulor.

and cuckoo for it i surely am! it is a deep green, with some blue undertones and gorgeous blue shimmer. it is such a deep shade with a certain glow to it.

the formula looks like it would be runny and on a thin side, but it's not, it builds up beautifuly.

picture polish sage (collaboration shade)

here comes yet another picture polish collaboration shade, and this time, it is the gorgeous sage.

sage was created back in 2018 with LakoDom, and how this shade came to life is a bit misterious: "riginally created to be something different however during the development process was born and to beautiful not to bring to life."

it is as close to a real deal sage as it could be: a light, muted green, almost like a sea foam, with holo flakes. it has a jelly-like consistency, but the colour really builds up nicely.

fun lacquer glitzy glam (summer 2015)

i am breaking this long hiatus (travels, work, holidays) with a true gem: glitzy glam from f. u. n. lacquer collection for summer 2015.

glitzy glam is simply stunning. a rich teal shade, filled with goldish holographic glitter of various sizes, which i can safely say at this point that it's a signature thing of f. u. n. lacquer. i am totally in love with their polishes.

ysl vert d' orient (summer 2013)

one my favourite polishes is vert d'orient from ysl summer 2013 collection.

i guess i could just write ysl and teal and it would be obvious how much i love this polish. jokes aside, it is gorgeous. the colour itself may not be the most unique in the world, but for some reason it feels like it is.

i love teal cremes, and this one has an amazing formula and brush, so it is perfect. the teal is leaning a bit more to the green than what my photos show. it it is one of those hard-to-capture shades.

opi live and let die (skyfall)

skyfall might still be my favourite opi collection, and one of awesome polishes released in it is live and let die. i already wrote about on her majesty secret service, moonraker, you only live twice and tomorrow never dies.

live and let die is a blackened green shade filled with green and gold tiny glass flecks. this shimmer is not too dense, just the right amount.

the formula is awesome as well, it's almost a one-coater. i can't get enough of these shades and i really hope everyone got their bottle of this polish, because it is one of the prettiest shades of this kind.

picture polish dandelion (collaboration shade)

dandelion first appeared in summer 2017 in picture polish collaboration shade line, together with cozy. it was created by laublm

dandelion is a thing of beauty. in laura's words: "my inspiration has been my father and the present nature where I live in Spain, my memories with him of childhood and all his love for nature. If I blew a dandelion to ask for a wish it would be him…" it is a medium, calm green with scattered holo effect.

it is a bit on the sheer side, but two ticker coats do the job. it is such a gorgeous shade, unusual but somehow delicate.

catrice get slimed (iconails)

i already raved about current catrice core collection, iconails. after aqua man-icure and beleive in jade,  i am moving to get slimed.

get slimed might not be everybody's cup of tea, but it surely is mine. it is a muted, but still lively lime green. the second i saw it, i knew it had to be mine.

application and formula are great, i really am happy with current catrice offer.

catrice beleive in jade (iconails)

i already wrote how much i like the current catrice collection, iconails, when i wrote about aqua man-icure. today, i am showing believe in jade.

believe in jade is, well, as the name says, a jade polish. it is a perfect jade though, not too muted, not too bright, just perfect. formula is also amazing, as well as the brush, so i am definitelly recommending this line.

a england tess d'urbervilles (gothic beauties)

back in 2012, a england released probably their only underwhelming collection, gothic beauties. the main issue seemed to be the lack of shimmer, and with all the polishes being either black or off black, it all seemed like a dark blob. i already showed jane eyre, now it's time for tess d'urbervilles.

oh,
tess... this hardy's novel is one of the most depressing books i've ever read, i just kept waiting for something nice to happen and it never did. it scarred me for life and i don't even want to watch any of the movie adaptations. but i digress. tess is described as 'like the secretive black of a deep forest, sublimely displaying its provocative emerald secrets".

in reality, it is a black polish infused with emerald green flecks. it had to be double of the amont for it to really stand out, like this, the effect is mostly subdued. but, like with jane eyre, if you look at it as a simple off-black polish that has just enough of oompf not to be a plain black, then you are fine. formula is amazing though.

zoya envy (truth and dare)

zoya envy is from there really old collection truth and dare for autumn 2009.

in ever truthful words of zoya people, it is a "deep blackened green with subtle yellow undertones and barely-perceptible shimmer." in my opinion, that shimmer is so barely perceptible that i honestly first saw it in this description :).

is a really nicely formulated creme. under at least a bit of light, it can barely be mistaken for a black polish, but it has a tendency to appear more black than green. certainly the darkest green i own.

opi green-wich village (mod about brights)

mod about brights is a really old opi collection from back in 2008,  making green-wich village one of the oldest polishes in my collection. the it color was already shown here.

green-wich village is a proper swampy, froggy green, and quite bright and in-your-face.

even though it is so old, the formula is still the same as it was, which is, not perfect :) it is a sheer creme, and it definitely needs three coats to get to the full colour. i am a great fan of greens, so this is right up my alley.

dior waterlilly (garden party)

star of the day is dior's waterlilly, from the garden party collection for spring 2011.

when this collection came out, i still wasn't into high end nail polishes, but i quickly realized i really wanted this one. luckily,  i managed to find one lonely bottle!

it is more pastel and minty than my typically favourite green shades, but this is what makes it unique in my overwhelmingly green stash. the microshimmer is gorgeous and denser than usually, making it almost iridescent. i really love this one, it so springy and fun!

a england fotheringhay castle (elizabeth and mary)

after crown of thislesgloriana and virgin queen, it's time for fotheringhay castle from a england's elizabeth and mary collection from 2015.

everything about this polish is perfect. the hue is a rich, light olive green with this inner light that a english does magically. holo particles are scattered and the effect is just beautiful.

needless to say, the formula is perfection. this polish is definitely on my favourites list!

dior garden (glowing gardens)

oh how i love wearing polishes like dior's garden in the summer! it was one of four polishes released in their spring 2016 glowing gardens collection.

garden is a very interesting yellowy green shade, almost pastel but with a regular creme finish. it is eye catching and somehow unique. the formula and applications were not perfect, but not far off. definitely one of the favourites for sunny days.

frankenpolish: against the grain by shine eye

it's time for yet another of my frankens of the green-ish variety, against the grain!

against the grain (named after a bad religion song linked at the bottom) is an olive green, muted and earthy but with the shimmer that makes it more interesting. i seriously don't think i have anything quite like it in my collection.

the picture taking day was a bit overcast:

dior metropolis (cosmopolite)

my only pick from dior's 2016 fall collection, cosmopolite, is metropolis.

my first instinct was to ignore the entire collection, but metropolis was really screaming my name. pictures are slightly darker than what it looks like in real life, but it is definitely darker than the promo image. i never knew that there will ever be a polish that's at the same time green and grey, but, to my joy, dior made it!

the formula is flawless and the polish just so gorgeous.  it might look like a simple shade, but it is so deep and pretty.  it definitely has my recommendation.

layla emerald divine (holographic effect)

i got my first and so far the only layla polish during my  last trip to italy in 2015. of course, i opted for one from the crazy holographic effect collection, emerald divine.

it is a really crazy holo, just the way i like it. the shade is medium green, with the really stunning linear holo effect.

i was abroad when i tried it the first time, so i was struggling a bit with the regular base coat, so the second time, i wore it on bare nails with no problems at all.
