opi german-icure (germany)

i always loved opi's germany collection. after nein! nein! nein! ok fine! and  every month is oktoberfest, it's time for germanicure!

german-icure and  every month is oktoberfest have been lumped together from the start, as kind of sister polishes. while oktoberfest leans to purple, this one is more of a burnt orange-red. they described it like this: "it proves that burgundy is the new black, inspired by the vibrant street art in berlin."

it is gorgeous and vampy, and the shimmer even gives it a bit of a metallic look. the first coat is a bit sheer, but it builds up nicely after two coats.

ysl rouge dada (core)

it's time for another classic shade, ysl rouge dada from the core collection.

this polish's colour is really strange. in the shade it's one of those bloody reds, while it looks almost like a fuchsia in the light. this is also visible in the pictures: the pinky is always furthest from the light in this position, and it looks darker even though all the nails look the same in real life  (had this polish on many times already, and always had the same effect on pictures).

formula is really good, but it is more of a crelly than a creme, so it needs three coats for opacity.

a england percival (the mythicals)

percival follows the long list of a england the mythicals gems, such as  avalon lady of the lakeexcalibur revamped and tristam.

percival, "splendid & resplendent red",  is a real close dupe to butter london knees up. nevertheless, a beyond gorgeous shimmery metallic red, with this glow within type of look.

i have more photos than usual, because these polishes look better in the  shade than in the sun. combined with an awesome formula and brush, it's a winner!

china glaze foxy (vintage vixen)

china glaze's vintage vixen is a really awesome collection back in the autumn of 2010. i the only other polish i had was ingrid, and finally the time has come to show off foxy.

funnily enough, foxy is one of my first china glaze polishes and it got a chance on the blog only now.

it is kind of a burned red, dark orange sort of shade, perfect for autumn. the shimmer is rich and formula smooth and nice.

picture polish bridget (opulence)

the time has finally come to share gorgeous picture polish bridget from the opulence collection, launcehd in 2014.

i already showed eyre, pandoragalachameleon and glitch,  from the collection, so it is about time to bring out the modern part of the sub-colection that was a pride and prejudice/bridget jones-mash up.

the  red scattered holo polishes tend to lean more on the pinkish or burgundy side. this one, with some burned orange undertones, is not that usual. it is a saturated, gorgeous red with an amazing formula.

ysl piment d'ailleurs (spicy)

it's time for yet another ysl perfection, this time it is piment d'ailleurs from the spicy collection from spring 2014.

i might be growing up. not that long ago, i might not even consider wearing a colour like this, and now i'm in love. i think it really looks classy. i'm not much of an expert in red polishes, but i would call this a crimson red. perfect, buttery creme, just the type ysl spoiled me on.

zoya tosca (classics)

tosca is one of the zoya oldies, it hard to pin it's original collection, but now it is a part of their classics.

i always forget about this polish during the gloomy days, but remember it the second the sun starts.

i believe that the strawberry red with the touch of coral is the best colour description. shimmer looks really dense in the bottle, but it is subtle on the nails. the formula is also nice, a real spring/summer treat.

opi tapestry (designer series 29)

i am showing one of the older opi designer series polishes, tapestry.

i had a soft spot for opi's designer series, since back in the days there was not that many holos.

tapestry is a soft shade with a colour that is hard to explain (well, for me, reds are problematic). it's mostly a red shade, with a lot of pink and even orangey undertones. formula is really nice.

ysl rouge pop art (1)

it seems that lately i'm publishing only dark polishes, and i felt like i need something more lively. what better choice than ysl rouge pop art, the first one in their core collection.

i am not a red nail polish hoarder, but from time to time i get the urge to wear red on my nails. and rouge pop art always manages to cheer me up. i believe that it is a red with a perfect balance of orange and blue undertones.

it is a borderline crelly. although the coverage is good, if you have longer and more pigmented nails, the tips will be visible. i don't mind it  though, for some reason it feels even more cute and fresh. it s well formulated, as usual.

china glaze heart of africa (pop top)

pop top was china glaze collection back in 2014, that had all the toppers and two base colours. the bases were the iconic white on white and today's star, heart of africa.

heart of africa is one of those burgundy shimmers that everyone has to have. it is a classic for a reason. china glaze people described it poetically: "deep thinkers glam it up in black cherry red that's ready to shimmy in the shimmers."

it is in my collection for so many years, and the formula is still great. a real, a little overlooked, gem of a polish.

chanel rouge moire (rouge allure moiré)

rouge moire is a part of chanel's mini autumn 2013 collection, rouge allure moiré. i only got this one, because rose moire is not my cup of tea.

to be completely honest, this polish is pretty, but i would survive without it. i don't regret buying it, it's just that these shades don't really make my heart beat faster.

the shade is best described as pearly red. it is a cool, berry red with a pinkish shimmer that goes over it like a thin coat, and really pops out in the sun. it has a slight metallic feel to it. the formula and opacity are ok, there is a little bit of visible brushstrokes, but nothing too crazy. bear in mind, i forgot to put the top coat, so they could've been evened out by it.

butter london knees up (holiday 2009)

there was a period where i really had a thing for butter london polishes, and it's a pity they weren't that easily found, otherwise i would have owned much more. today i am showing knees up, a really suitable polish for holiday season, even if it was 2009.

butter london's description for this one: a smashing metallic-red nail lacquer perfect for getting smashed in. so, yeah, according to butter london, knees up means getting drunk at a party!

it is a gorgeous, shimmery metallic red that simply glows on the nails. it was originally the part of their holiday collection, but it became part of the permanent collection. the formula is great, i just wish that the brush is a bit wider, and  it would be just perfect!

china glaze jamaican out (core)

jamaican out is a part of china glaze core collection,  but quite a while ago. back in the day it was easy to find, not sur on the current situation.

this is one of the polishes i got solely because of the name (see the pattern with essie jamaica me crazy :D), but i otherwise find it to be borderline hideous.

when i went through the pics, i was surprised that it looks much better than in real life. when i was wearing it, i felt like an old lady and was quite nervous. the color is weird to describe, depending on the lightning, and your own skin tone, it can be more red, coral and orange. the goldish shimmer is what i think is the problem, though. formula is standardly ok.

opi every month is oktoberfest (germany)

wow, i have no idea how is it possible i still haven't swatched every month is oktoberfest from opi's germany collection, but here it goes.

every month is oktoberfest (emio) is already a legendary polish and there are so many posts written about it that i am really stuck now. opi describes it wih: " prost! here’s to the prettiest plum in the biergarten."

it is stunningly gorgeous. a dark, purplish/red base with rich red and gold shimmer. it is so rich and vampy and pretty and a definitive must have in any girl's collection, whatever her colour preferences.

dance legend danger danger (wow prism)

today's choice is the gorgeous danger danger from dance legend's amazing collection wow prism that you can see on the photo below. i've already shown amazing steel panther and through the glass from the same collection.

at some point i realized i'm missing a bright, but saturated raspberry red holo, and i immediately knew that i should search for it among the dance legend collections. it didn't take me long to realize that danger danger is exactly what i was looking for!

i'm really impressed with dance legend holos, whether they are scattered as this one, ore linear like android, and i guess i'll always turn to them for this types of polishes.

chanel rouge noir

how many nailpolishes do you know that have their own wikipedia page? chanel's rouge noir is definitely the one of the most famous polishes in the world.

rouge noir, or vamp as it is known in the usa, first saw the light back in 1994. as those dark shades were not made back then, rouge noir became instantly successful, and chanel's best selling cosmetics product of that era. it is probably most famous for being on uma thurman nails on the pulp fiction poster. it earned 1 million $ in its first year!

it got revamped (pun, embarrassingly, intended) in 2015, which is when i got it. chanel made an entire make up line around it, with the tagline: "style tool accessible to all women. neither classic nor gothic, neither rock nor chic, or rather all of these rolled into one, rouge noir shakes up codes, discreetly distilling its dark and languid beauty. it  galvanizes all styles. better yet, it injects them with a new power."

its popularity is obvious, it is stunning, blackened red crelly. i am sure majority of women have a version of this polish in their collection.

a england rose bower (burnes-jones dream)

today i am showing yet another a england polish, rose bower from burnes jones dream collection. this is how they advertise it: "a true deep rose hue kissed with subtle holographic overtones, a scarlet riot of blooming life to keep the princess company"

i already showed one polish from this collection, briar rose, and they have a similar pattern: a gorgeous, deep colour (in the case of rose bower, a cranberry red with some hints of fuchsia) with the scattered holo effect that gives the "inner glow effect", that a england produces beautifully.

formula is amazing as usual, and the polish itself is so pretty that i was shocked that i can enjoy a red one so much! it also looks nice in shade.

china glaze cranberry splash (holiday joy)

after glistening snow, cranberry splash is another polish i am showing from china glaze's holiday joy collection from 2012.

this type of shimmery metallic red is my favourite type of red fir sure. i ended accidentally owning two almost-dupes of cranberry splash, a england's perceval and butter london's knee up, which is great as this bottle is going to be used up pretty soon.

this ruby red metallic shimmer has this amazing look, really of the holiday sorts, that looks amazing on the nails. i simply love it. it has very subtle brushstrokes, but nothing crazy.

opi you only live twice (skyfall)

it's time to present another opi from the skyfall collection, this time it's you only live twice. opi's description: "this rich high-shimmer magenta is a once-in-a-lifetime find."

i'm not quite sure that magenta is the accurate color to describe this polish with.  to me, it's more of a raspberry red  base with hint of magenta\pink with pink and gold glass flecks. the base is a creme-jelly combo, so even though it seems sheer after one coat, it gets full opacity with second. the formula is standardly good.

i am not the biggest red fan in the world, but throw some glass flecks in and i am sold! they really made this polish special.

chanel malice (holiday)

malice was the only polish in chanel's holiday collection for 2012.

i was so lucky to get this polish. at the time, i literally got the last bottle in serbia, thanks to the group effort of my dear nail polish girls crew.

it truly is a perfect polish for holidays. a deep burgundy red, filled with ruby red shimmer, it even melts the hearts of red antifans like myself. it looks rich, with a great formula, and i'm really happy i have it in my stash.
