opi yoga-ta get this blue (idia)

yoga-ta get this blue appeared in opi's 2008 india collection, but proved to be so popular, it was included in the permanent range.

yoga-ta get this blue is one of my favourite blue shades. it is a navy blue with the amount of shimmer that doesn't make it overwhelming. (don't get me wrong, i loveeee to be overwhelmed by shimmer, just, sometimes it's not bad to have a more subdued polish). when the light hits it, it has this amazong glow, and it is never too dark to look black.

the formula is still great, and i really have to wear this polish more!

natural light:

essie midnight cami (cuddle with color)

essie midnite cami from cuddle with color collection is my first essie ever.

i got it as a gift back in the day from one wonderful nail polish addict. she obviously knew what to gift me, since she chose the color that is described as "a shimmering deep twilight blue".

the brush is similar to the china glaze's, or should i say, thin :) i prefer wider brushes, but the formula is good so i had little problems. shimmer is quite discreet and visible only in strong light.

natural light:

ysl bleu cyclades (bleus lumiere 2014)

bleu cyclades was a part of ysl's 2014 summer collection bleus lumiere.

one of the best things about bleu cyclades, that is different than dior tuxedo, ysl bleu cobalt and similar, is that it's not too dark. the shade of blue is somewhere between royal blue and navy, but never black. the shimmer is rich and gorgeous.

again, formula is amazing and there is no staining, so, total recommendation.

opi play 'til midnight (holiday in toyland)

wow, this is an oldie! polish of the day is play 'til midnight, from opi's 2008 holiday in toyland collection.

play 'till midnight is one of those classic shades: an amazing, rich navy blue with perfect amount of shimmer. sure, i may have on or two (hm..) similar polishes in my stash, but this is a colour i find myself wearing more and more.

even though it's more than decade old, formula is still impeccable. 

natural light: 

opi russian navy matte (suede)

opi came up with their matte collection in 2009, when they took some of their popular polishes and made matte version. in the end, since the original and the mattified one had little in common, it created a bit of confusion, but it didn't stop me from owning a couple. i am shoving russian navy matte today.

russian navy matte is your simple navy blue matte polish. no shimmer, no nothing. it might seem flat and boring, but it's a good one to have in collection as it truly is one coater, has minimal striking problems, and the formula is still great even though we are approaching year 10. i usually wear it simple and bear for a day, and add a topper the next.

natural light:

dior tuxedo (blue tie)

tuxedo was a part of dior's blue tie collection for autumn 2011, so it is now a bit of a problem, although not impossible, to find it. the other two polishes are safari beige and blue denim.

the color is maybe not the most unique one in the nail polish world, but nevertheless, it is stunning. it is a deep navy blue with lighter blue shimmer, and on the egdes and under artificial lighting, it even gets a hint of a deep violet. whatever the light is, it never looks black.

when i was considering whether to get this polish, i read that there were complaints about the formula being too thick. i didn't have those problems, it is thick, but easy to work with, without streaks and completely opaque after one coat. i did the second one this time, as a force of habit and for the pictures, but i will definitely go with one coat in the future.
