chanel intemporel (l'intemporel de chanel )

intemporel is the only polish in chanel's spring collection, l'intemporel de chanel.

i could've easily skipped this one. it's not like my collection is lacking metallic silvers, but i couldn't resist it.

i really  like metallic silvers. for me, they are perfect party polishes (especially since i wear black most of the time, and need some extra sparkle). this one is no more difficult (nor easier) to use than the most of them, but with thin enough coats and quick hands, you can avoid a lot of brushstrokes. that being said, you have to be blind not to notice them, but, for me, they somehow even add to the charms, so i gave up trying to make it look as polished (pun kind of intended) as possible.

a england ascalon (the legend)

i am showing you another gem from the a england's perfect the legend collection, and the polish of the day is ascalon. this collection was insane, come on, it gave us princess sabra, order of the garter, dragon, and saint george.

i have to admit i wasn't completely aware how awesome this polish is before i had it on my nails. like being a gorgeous grey holo polish wasn't enough, they added a lavander duochrome effect in the mix. the colour shift is subtle but really beautiful and somehow natural.

i am a superfan of a england's formula, and this one is no different.

chanel graphite (illusions d'ombres)

after showing quartz and peridot from chanel's illusions d'ombres collection for autumn 2011, it is about time to show the third one, graphite.

graphite is a dark silver, but this is quite an oversimplification of its colour. it is a metallic, foily polish that looks a bit textured, while being perfectly smooth.

this unusual finish gives it more depth, so in shade it becomes more pewter-y, even greenish. formula is amazing, so much that even the chanel brush is not annoying me.

a england fonteyn (ballerina)

there is something so beautiful about a england polishes, i just can't get enough of them. the beauty of the day is fonteyn from the ballerina collection.

it's been a while since i showed encore margot from this collection, so it was about time to show this beauty. and that it really is! it is a silvery holo with a hint of lavender, with a england signature amazing formula. it truly is amazingly lovely with being unusual!

opi your royal shine-ness (serena glam slam england)

it's again time for an oldie, your royal shine-ness from way back in the summer of 2011, when opi's serena glam slam england collection was released.

i acquired a fair share of silver foils. ok, i have three currently, and it might be too much, but one of them is zoya trixie, that was my first and it's a pretty little thing, the other is my newest addition, chanel intemporel. so, opi is definitely the unnecessary one, but i can't get rid of it because of the name.

it is a medium to dark silver foil with really good formula and zero brushstrokes. definitely not the most unique polish, but if you don't have anything similar, this one is an excellent choice.

opi designer...de better! (muppets)

lately i get really shocked when i realize when were some polishes launched. like, how is it possible that opi's holiday 2011 collection, muppets, is almost nine years old? and today i am showing designer...de better! from it.

designer...de better! is described by opi with "and this light metallic bronze is ready for the runway." i love it. it is a pewtery silvery metallc, foil-like polish with rose gold flecks. quite holiday-like, but not too blingy.

formula is ok, quite opaque with two coats and not too heavy.

zoya trixie (extreme)

sometimes, the day comes when a girl needs some bling on her nails, so for today, i chose zoya's trixie from the extreme collection back in 2010 (together with raven and purity).

zoya describes this polish as a "stunning light silver with a sparkling metallic foil finish. a chic and edgy shade that adds a spark to your look". i couldn't agree more! the polish is amazing, very dense with a metallic, mirror-like sparkly finish. it applies without streaks, but with a bit of a textured finish and it is very opaque.

dance legend steel panther (wow prism)

steel panther, from dance legend's wow prism collection (2014), is a polish that i keep forgetting that it annoys me.

wow prism is an awesome collection with polishes of the same theme: holographic glitter in a clear base. steel panther is a silver one in the collection.

from the bottle, it looks like it will have a good coverage, even if you need three coats to achieve it, but it's not the case. it would be better if you wear it as a topper over a silver or grey base, but somehow i keep forgetting this and constantly attempt to wear it on its own. nevertheless, it is sparkly and fun.

opi on her majesty's secret service (skyfall)

when it comes to opi on her majesty secret service from the skyfall collection, i recommend clicking on photos and thus enlarging them, in order to see it's extraordinary beauty!

opi says that "this misty-green pewter commands attention." i see it as the world is not enough's bluish brother, and similarly difficult to describe. it is a cool toned steel blue-pewter-silver-grey polish with multicolored glass flecks, namely gold, pink, green, and blue.

it is rather sheer and needs three coats, again as its taupe brother :D, but the opacity and color build up nicely.

ysl blanc figuratif (shimmer rush)

when it comes to "no buy" policies, in my world, they never apply to ysl, and i still try to snatch absolutely everyone that comes out. today i am showing the gorgeous blanc figuratif, from their 2019 spring collection, shimmer rush.

blanc figuratif is gorgeous, frosty, shimmery white. the shimmer is fine, going from silver and white to bronze, giving it a metallic, chrome-like look.

it is a chameleon as well, as it looks differently in different lights. i wore it on an overcast day, so it looks almost like it's infused with gold.

a england excalibur revamped (the mythicals)

today, i am showing the swatches of the gorgeous excalibur (the new version) from the a england's the mythicals collection.

i love wearing polishes with foil finish in the winter and autumn. i can see the reason behind the name from the official description: "a steely grey hue filled with multi-dimensional shimmer, creating a unique fusion of silver and gold - a shade to match a hero's blade".

the colour is so hard to describe,  because it's both silver and gold, with grainy, irregular golden flakes. it has that old gold covered with patina feel. it's gorgeous, rich, with no brushstrokes and excellent opacity.

china glaze i'm not lion (on safari)

i jokingly call i'm not lion, from china glaze's on safari collection back in 2012, my favourite polish when i am not sure if i want gold or silver bling.

the base is clear, and it is filled with antique gold and silver glitter, giving it a somewhat champagne look. it might be that it looks different in different environments. because it is a true glitter, it dries to a texture, but it is not gritty because the glitter particles are not chunky enough.

i prefer it on an overcast day to a full-blown sun, because it truly stands out in that environment. i love my textured polishes, so i never put top coat on them.

opi moonraker (skyfall)

as i already mentioned in tomorrow never dies post, opi's skyfall collection from 2012 was probably their last that completely blew me away. not their fault, i think, as in that period there was not as high chance as now that i will have something at least similar to a new shade.  i purchased six shades, and now it's time for moonraker.

from what i can see, people either love or hate this polish, and i am definitely on the love team. opi's description: "drive your fastest car to get this exhilarating metallic grey".  the color is steel grey with a hint of blue. when you apply it, the finish looks like it would be metallic, but it dries like a gorgeous chrome.

i admit, it is streaky, and if your nails have ridges (like mine), they would be visible, but, weirdly enough, i love the final look. i think that the best evidence of my love for this polish is that i wore it twice in last 10 days.

china glaze glistening snow (holiday joy)

holiday joy was a really awesome china glaze collection from back in 2012, and  i'm showing glistening snow.

i think that china glaze people invented textured polishes before they were a thing, but probably weren't aware of it.

glistening snow has this gritty texture, because it is made of silver and holo glitter. holo effect is, unfortunately, really drowned in my pictures and is much prettier in real life.

formula is decent, i got nice coverage with two layers and it turned out i didn't need aluminum foil to remove it.

barry m neptune sea (magnetic effects)

after showing moon dust, it's time to present neptune sea, my other barry m polish from their magnetic effects collection.

source

i loved
moon dust, but i had "problems" with neptune sea. although with it being mostly silver (as you can see from the polish on its own, without using the magnet), magnetic particles are actually blue glittery particles. it took me a lot of wears until i realized that i don't like it with the magnet that it comes with, this weird star-like pattern. i feel like it somehow difuses the effects, and you are left with the feeling that something is missing, that either magnet is not good or that the polish itself is not behaving well.

ysl studio silver (fall look)

with the name "studio silver" and number 54, it is clear that studio 54 was an inspiration for ysl's night 54 collection for autumn 2017. their explanation:"inspired by studio 54, the epicenter of disco in the 1970s, the limited edition fall look collection sparkles with color and pays tribute to the greatest dance club of all time."

and given the sparkling, disco-ball nature of studio silver, it is clear why it is in this collection. it is glittery magic, that looks awesome and fun on its own and over a base color. i layered it over opi check out the old geysirs and on another occasion wore it "naked" and loved it even more. yes, my nails look super yellow in the photos for some reason, but it looked awesome in real life.

formula is gritty, it dries like a texture polish, and i liked it this way so i didn't play with top coats (yet).

opi ds radiance (designer series 38)

i am a huge fan of opi's designer series polishes, and i tried to get every bottle i came across. one of my favourites is radiance, released back in fall 2010.

i love silver metallics, and maybe own a bottle or two too many, but radiance is one of the best ever. it is made out of ultra fine metallic particles, it is a super true silver and applies like butter. definitely a must have, no doubt there.

a england encore margot (ballerina)

a england polishes keep amazing me. especially awesome collection called ballerina  consists of four beautiful but elegant holos, and today's star is encore margot.

named after dame margot fonteyn, classical english ballerina, encore margot is a true ice queen shade.  in a england words, it is  it is "a standout icy blue prismatic hue, destined for curtain calls". it is a strong, silver linear holo polish that looks metallic. even though the effect is strong, the base color stil makes it elegant and soft.

i don't think that anyone makes holos with such an amazing formula as a england, it really flows like butter.

zoya hazel (irresistible)

gorgeous polish such as zoya's hazel from their spring irresistible collection is such an interesting polish that it's almost said that they described it so simply:  "full-coverage, blue green foil metallic".

hazel has everything i like: the base colour that is definitely unique, an icy, steely blue with goldish flakes that i would never think would go well with the base, but they fit perfectly.

the finish is both foil and metalic, but there's no problem with application or brushstrokes. i am really impressed with this polish, it looks a bit space-y.
