dior gris montaigne (gris city)

gris montaigne is a really gorgeous grey from dior's old 2011 collection, gris city.

gris montaigne is so so gorgeous. whenever i took pictures of it, it turned out to look darker than it really is, but again, it does dry darker than what it looks like in the bottle. also, it is one of the truest grey shades i have, with almost no blue undertone, but i gave up on trying to get it right.

the colour is very saturated, and even though it's old, formula is dreamy.

opi nein nein nein ok fine (germany)

nein! nein! nein! ok fine! is a problematically named polish from opi's 2012 autumn collection, germany. i previously showed every month is oktoberfest.

name aside, nein nein nein is is a gorgeous, full grey. it is dark and deep, but not veering into the almost-black teritory. it might have a hint of olive green undertones.

it is very creamy and rich. formula is still top notch, it is really a great shade.

picture polish winter (winter 2015)

it is only fitting to start the year with a proper winter polish, and i chose winter, from  winter 2015 picture polish collection.

winter is a gorgeous shade of medium grey, combined with one of my favourite finishes: holographic flakies. it is very easy to work with and it's perfect for sweater weather!

dior perfecto (rock your nails)

after the cult classic, nirvana, it is time for me to show another polish from dior's rock your nails collection from back in 2011, perfecto.

perfecto is a super dark grey, just a pinch away grom being quite off-black. it is a solid, pretty creme, but not really a stunner.

the formula is a classic, two coater creme. it is a nice winter polish, but really, not a must-have in any wayl.

dior metropolis (cosmopolite)

my only pick from dior's 2016 fall collection, cosmopolite, is metropolis.

my first instinct was to ignore the entire collection, but metropolis was really screaming my name. pictures are slightly darker than what it looks like in real life, but it is definitely darker than the promo image. i never knew that there will ever be a polish that's at the same time green and grey, but, to my joy, dior made it!

the formula is flawless and the polish just so gorgeous.  it might look like a simple shade, but it is so deep and pretty.  it definitely has my recommendation.

a england cathy (to emily bronte)

it's been a while since i wrote about a england polishes, so i'm going for cathy from to emily bronte collection. i've already shown let me in and wuthering heights.

i am seriously in love with cathy. the shade is so pretty, so unique. it is a pale, unusual grey with a hint of lillac, combined with subtle holo effect with some iridescent blue shimmer that makes it stand out even more.

formula is slightly thicker than you would expect, but nice and creamy nevertheless.

a england fated prince (burne-jones dream)

after briarwood, sleeping palace, rose bower and briar rose,  i'm adding fated prince to the collection of a england burne-jones dream collection swatches.

i do love a england's holos, they really are a thing of beauty. for me, charcoal grey is a great option for a holographic polish, it really gives a twist to dark shades.

a england's idea was for it to resemble "the tempered steel of a hero's blade". the holographic effect is not muted even in shade, but at sunlight it really becomes alive. formula is great, as usual for their polishes.

china glaze stone cold (capitol colors)

it's time for some stone cold classics, so today i am showing china glaze's stone cold from the capitol colors collection for the spring 2012.

capitol colors was intended to be a spring collection, but i somehow picked up the more autumn looking shades (see gorgeous agro). it may be weird, but i see this polish as super elegant. i wore it to a couple of weddings, actually. maybe it's because of the matte finish, maybe because i see all shades of grey as elegant, even when they are asphalt-like.

the formula got a bit thicker over the years, as it happens with matte shades, so it is a one coater.

a england wuthering heights (to emily bronte)

after showing let me in a while ago, it is time for another gem from a england's to emily bronte collection, wuthering heights.

it is described as "soft medium grey holo wrapping multiple reflections the setting of the novel: a dark, windy, stormy place". it is such a flawless shade, a medium grey with purple undertones and soft holo finish. i know it is summer now, but it is such a perfect sweater shade.

as expected, formula is amazing and smooth.

ysl gris graffiti (urban escape)

gorgeous gris grafitti belongs to ysl's trio of polishes from the urban escape collection for summer 2018.

gris graffiti is an absolutely gorgeous shade, equal parts blue and grey. the formula is flawless and the shade itself both fresh and moody. i love it so much, i really need to wear it more often!

dior gris trianon (cherie bow)

gris trianon is the only non-pink polish in dior's cherie bow collection for spring 2012.

i love dior's grey polishes and it seems like i can't resist them. this one is more of a greige, a combination of grey and beige, and it looks really pretty on nails.

the formula is flawless and there is nothing to complain about. i love wearing polishes like this when i feel like i want to be a bit more serious.

china glaze awaken (romantique)

in another blast from the past post, i am showing one of two first china glaze polishes i ever bought, awaken from romantique collection back in 2008.

awaken was my only pick from romantique, a very interesting collection made of frosty-like metallic polishes. a really stunning polish and even in retrospect, i can see why i picked it at the very beginning of my nailpolish addiction,

the color is just amazing gunmetal grey with a metallic finish. the formula is great, no streaking at all. it is just so pretty and edgy.

a england oberon fairy king (shakespeare's fairies)

after moth the fairy and puck a fairy, the time has come for another beauty from a england's shakespeare's fairies collection to shine.

how to describe this gorgeous, complex polish? let's see a england's attempt: "king of the fairies; powerful and strong willed, hologram with additional iridescent glimmer. colour: complex dark smoky green."

well, they for sure are onto something here, but i don't think i would describe the colour like this... it looks darker in the bottle, like asphalt grey, but on nails, it is more of a grey icy blue, with green, blue, silver and gold holo sparkles. it is insanely pretty!

the coverage is awesome, they really make perfect holos, smooth and rich.

opi on her majesty's secret service (skyfall)

when it comes to opi on her majesty secret service from the skyfall collection, i recommend clicking on photos and thus enlarging them, in order to see it's extraordinary beauty!

opi says that "this misty-green pewter commands attention." i see it as the world is not enough's bluish brother, and similarly difficult to describe. it is a cool toned steel blue-pewter-silver-grey polish with multicolored glass flecks, namely gold, pink, green, and blue.

it is rather sheer and needs three coats, again as its taupe brother :D, but the opacity and color build up nicely.

picture polish london (collaboration shade)

london is a picture polish collaboration shade addition from winter 2018, and a gorgeous one!

london was made together with marinelovespolish and it is clearly inspired by london's skyline. it is a perfect shade somewhere between blue and grey with tiny holographic flakies. it is insanely gorgeous!

the formula is great and smooth and the polish is overall amazing!

zoya lotus (true spring)

lotus is from zoya's true spring 2012 collection.

zoya describes it as: "a very soft, dusty blue-toned amethyst purple with colorful shimmer that reflects pink, red and gold. a dreamy smoky shade for purple lovers that looks both soft and luminous"  and they are dead on with the description. the color really is a dusty, muted purple packed with pinkish shimmer.

formula is amazing and it is fully opaque after two coats. the shimmer is quite visible on the nails, which surprised me, because i expected it o be more subtle. i think that this is one of those shades that look good on every skintone.

dance legend grey brittain (smoky)

today i'm showing grey brittain, from dance legend smoky collection back in 2014.

i took advantage of a llarowe sale to get grey brittain, but got so in love that i already put two more on the list. the name of collection is smoky, and it sure is! grey brittain is an interesting shade of grey, and bottom pictures are more accurate. the tiny black glitter, in lack of a better word, is running through it, creating the said smoky effect.

formula is a bit runny, so i had to go with three coats.

opi moonraker (skyfall)

as i already mentioned in tomorrow never dies post, opi's skyfall collection from 2012 was probably their last that completely blew me away. not their fault, i think, as in that period there was not as high chance as now that i will have something at least similar to a new shade.  i purchased six shades, and now it's time for moonraker.

from what i can see, people either love or hate this polish, and i am definitely on the love team. opi's description: "drive your fastest car to get this exhilarating metallic grey".  the color is steel grey with a hint of blue. when you apply it, the finish looks like it would be metallic, but it dries like a gorgeous chrome.

i admit, it is streaky, and if your nails have ridges (like mine), they would be visible, but, weirdly enough, i love the final look. i think that the best evidence of my love for this polish is that i wore it twice in last 10 days.

opi check out the old geysirs (iceland)

it has been a while since i really, really wanted an opi nailpolish. check out the old geysirs from their 2017 fall collection called iceland definitely peaked my interest.

luckily, as these situations tend to happen more often that we would like, this one is as awesome on the nails as it is in the bottle. a unique greyed-out blue, with gorgeous blue iridescent shimmer.

the formula is slightly thicker than usual, but i didn't find it problematic. it is simply gorgeous so it is worth it.

dance legend velvet 648

today, i am showing a polish from dance legend's velvet collection (or Бархат in russian), number 648.

lately, my love for matte finishes reemerged. i know i know, you can mattify anything, but i still like polishes that have the effect to begin with.

648 (i wish it had a name) is really gorgeous. colour is very rich, a mix of dark grey and blue, with rich shimmer and amazing velvet finish. the formula is good, no streaking and difficulties. just gorgeous.
