ysl opulente cannelle (spicy)

spicy was a very interesting collection from ysl back in spring 2014. opulente cannelle is one of the six polishes from this collection, and i've already shown safran sultan, piment d'ailleurs , feuille d'or and eau de rose.

opulente cannelle is very difficult shade to describe. i learned that cannelle actually means cinnamon in french, and it makes sense, it doeas have this cinnamony look.

the shade is somewhere between medium brown and those dusty rose colours. i find it strangley pretty, but i agree that it depends a lot on the skin tone. formula is impeccable.

ysl safran sultan (spicy)

today i am showing another polish from ysl spicy collection, and the choice was safran sultan. i already showed piment d'ailleurs , feuille d'or and eau de rose.

safran sultan is definitely one of these love or hate shades, so i was shocked that this was the only one that was sold out when i picked this collection up on a trip. luckily, a coworker managed to find me a bottle at an airport.

the shade is mustardy and definitely unusual. i honestly love it, but i can understand if it's not everyone's cup of tea. formula is typically amazing.

ysl bronze aztec (core)

another day, another ysl, and this is one of my personal favorites, bronze aztec from their starting core collection.

the majority of ysl polishes are cremes, but from time to time, they make a gorgeous shimmer. this one is a highly pigmented dark brown, full of golden/bronze shimmer. the shimmer is more noticeable in the bottle than on nails, but far from being hidden.

needless to say, the formula is flawless.

natural light:

opi ds illuminate (designer series 33)

illuminate is the 33rd polish in opi's designer series, released at the end of 2008. i've already shown extravagance, fantasy, tapestry, mystery and radiance.

illuminate is described as "a brilliant sparkle of rich, burnished gold". it is kind of a light brown/dark nude, with dence holographic particles, that are kind of a signature for this collection.

even though it is millions of years old, the formula is still amazing, didn't change in the slightest. the day i wore it wasn't the sunniest, so i will update the post at some point

dior new world purple (nail bar)

new world purple, otherwise known as aztec chocolate, is dior polish from their autumn 2010 collection nail bar. graphic berry was featured quite recently.

the promo picture shows new purple more, well, purple than it actually is. it's a complex shade, a cool brown with purple undertones and a lot of shimmer. not that dior hiddens shimer, but the real deal.

the formula is a bit thin, but it's so pretty that i can forgive it pretty much everything.

opi i'm fondue of you (france)

i'm fondue of you is from opi's france collection from back in 2008 and, very very strangely, the only one i have from it.

fondue is a really strange polish. i have days when i wonder why did i get it, and days when i love it. it is a weird chocholate brown, pointing towards this type of fondue instead of cheese, but with very strong red undertones. the shimmer is quite understated but much more prominent in the bottle.

the formula and application were great, but i understant that it's not everyone's cup of hot chocolate.

opi warm me up (mariah carey holiday)

after baby, please come home, i am showing another polish from opi's mariah carey holiday collection from back in 2013, and that is warm me up.

warm me up is described as a " deep brown/ black with a gold shimmer throughout." i am not really a brown person, but i love this one. the shade is this amazing chocolate hue with a perfect amount of fine silver glimmer that gives it a frost-like finish. this microshimmer can come alive as green and bronze in the sun.

formula is also perfect, a typical two-coater.

opi espresso your style (kick up your heels)

well, if this isn't a blast from the past, i don't know what is. espresso your style comes from opi's kick up your heels collection for (audible gasp) 2006 holidays.

this is such a werid shade. it would never ever cross my mind to put this kind of shimmer in brown polish. the base colour is a red-toned brown, infused with gorgeous golden shimmer. it is not a shade i usually go for, brown has never been my colour, but the shimmer completely sold it to me.

even though it's absolutely ancient, the formula is pretty solid: great coverage in two coats and no issues with application.

ysl taupe graine (fall 2014)

today i am showing the first one from the  ysl fall 2014 collection duo, taupe graine.

taupe graine is a darker shade of brown, but it never looks black. textured effect is just beautiful (if you are a fan to begin with, and i certainly am).  it dries really quickly and looks a bit edgy but too not extravagant. 

i love taupe graine, probably because it really has this leathery look. it is a one coater, and dries very quickly.

china glaze ingrid (vintage vixen)

i'm still in a vintage world,  and my choice is ingrid from china glaze's perfect vintage vixen collection for autumn 2010.

just look at all of the gems in this collection! only  other i have foxy, but if i had to start my collection from scratch, i would start from vintage vixen. ingrid is just perfect. base color is amazing light brown leaning to taupe, almost like molten chocolate with just the right amount of golden shimmer. i'm looking at this pictures and i want to wear it again!

i really love this polish, everything is perfect about it, including formula and application, and it's the best dupe for dior exquis that i also own and love.

dior or tsarine (czarina gold) (holiday 2010)

today i'm showing my first high end polish ever, dior's or tsarine (also known as czarina gold). it was a part of the holiday 2010 collection, together with timeless gold and rouge garconne.

as i said, it was my first he polish so it's funny i waited so long to show it. i found some old swatches, they were really horrible :)  even though it was from the end of 2010, i bought it in june 2012. i was circling around it for so long, a bit scared of what would happen when i cross to the dark side. one failed driving test later, in a need of a pick-me-up, i stopped resisting!

in the hindsight, i am happy i stared with this one, because it really is my type of polish. a dark brown, rich base with large, almost glass flaky golden shimmer and good formula..

opi my private jet (night brights)

opi's my private jet is one of their most famous, and most controversial polishes. it originally appeared in 2007 collection night brights, but apparently there are three versions out there.

the original was more black and of a linear holo type, and mine is brown, with fine holographic shimmer. i like both versions, but i am not really happy that this one needs three coats for full coverage. even this is not enough sometimes, as you can see some bald spots on my middle finger.

nevertheless, i do like it, not only because of its notoriety.

opi what wizardry is this (oz the great and powerful)

i usually pass on opi's soft shades collections, but the one back in 2013, oz the great and powerful, surprisingly included a darker shade, and a textured one! behold the stunning what wizardry is this.

this polish is unbelievable. opi lazily described this gem as "rich taupe" and boy, oh boy, is there more to this polish than that.

wwit is a stunning brown/olive textured polish, with abundant gold shimmer. it's finish is not super gritty, more like fine grains. of course it dries matte, but due to the shimmer, it doesn't look dull and sparkles all over!

it dried reasonably quickly, and it looked like it's not a chipper (i usually change my polish daily, so...). it is beyond awesome!

dior exquis (holiday 2011)

my polish of choice for this occasion is one of my first high end polishes, gorgeous exquis from dior's holiday 2011 collection. other polishes here were or divin, mervielle and apparat (that i wish i owned).

exquis is a very rich and complex shade. it is somewhere between olive green and brown, with a lot of gold shimmer running around. it's one of those edgy but classy polishes.

formula is great, but unfortunately, i got a weirdly cut brush. still workable, though, just making life more difficult.
